The Adventure Called Life Day 356...blessed day...

Today was glorious. I woke up, I went to Chapel to hear Tony Campolo speak. Then Zachariah and I staked out a practice room, grabbed some lunch. He went to class, I returned to my floor, hung out with some residents. Then I went to concert choir. Zachariah and I had dinner from Ada's and we sat at the Historical marker on the music building, enjoying an unseen classical pianist in the practice room we were lounging against. After dinner we wandered back to our Rez halls and got our horns for concert band. After band we both had staff meetings. Mine went really well. Just a couple of things to go over.

Zachariah texted me saying that Josh needed to talk. I called and supported him, I didn't want to infringe upon his responsibility but also his friendship with the man. I look forward to his good night call in a little bit. Until then I am going to finish putting up signs for floor events!!

The Adventure Called Life Day 307...here comes the sun...

Seems like the end of tour is really great for me. I got to stay on campus, visit marshall, and now I am taking Zachariah home :)

We have had a wonderful lazy day of pitching a tent, song writing :) and talking, lots and lots of talking. I think I can talk to zachariah about ANYTHING, and never get bored. Its amazing. Something about the way we just flow together is just dumbfounding.

I think that tomorrow we will hit the tent early, since I did leave my phone when we went to star gaze, explore a bit, finish that song we were writing and waste the day away doing absolutely nothing. Its amazing how much I needed the rest :)

The Adventure Called Life Day 231...psalm writing revisit...

I've been trying my hand at writing songs from the Psalms. Now I know they are originally written as songs themselves, but I wanted to try to put melodies to the words, so they change a little bit to become singable in our "modern musical pallet." Today I looked back at a song I wrote a month ago. Its for piano, not guitar because of all the awkward open fifths and ascending arpeggios.

Psalm 34:1-8
Chorus:
My life is
to extol the Lord
evermore
my heart is
to exalt the Lord
forever
my soul is
to magnify the Lord
always

verse 1:
pour in my sorrow
i call out to you
send your angels
redeem me in your love

bridge:
your goodness is sweet
honey on my tongue
may i be satisfied
in you forever
amen

I worked on it some today, exactly one month from when I first penned it. I like it so far, but I'm sure it can use some improvements.

Here is another that I looked at again today:
Psalm 118:17-18

verse 1:
my mouth be filled
eternally proclaiming your goodness

chorus:
I am not dead
but in your promises alive

verse 2:
your judgement has cut me deeply
rescued from death
i am alive in you

chorus:
I am not dead
but in your promises alive

I discovered this video today on youtube. Its a Shane Bernard masterpiece. click and enjoy <3

The Adventure Called Life Day 229...two weeks...

that's how much time I have on my hands.

two weeks.

I should be happy about this. i should be really happy to do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for two entire weeks.
and yet, im frustrated. already. great. :) Today is Sunday, that means, church, have lunch, sit down watch the NASCAR race for a little bit, get up do something around the house, come back and check the race, go back outside, listen to the race on the radio, come in and watch the last 30 laps, then make/have dinner, go to church again, come home, watch some television with the family, write/read, go to sleep.

That's exactly how this day has gone. and I love it. Of course I miss a certain someone, but maybe that's why I'm dreading these two weeks without anything to keep me busy from thinking about Z. Well, here's to staying busy so my heart won't think too much...

two weeks. and I'm on the road again. If you would, I would love your prayers about our team, the kids and camps we're going to be a part of. that would be fantastic. Thank you. so, here's to an uneventful two weeks!!

The Adventure Called LIfe Day 200...alive...

Saturday, April 17th, 2010
i am not dead
i am ALIVE!
i am ALIVE!

After swinging by Marshall to see Zachariah's family, we went to the Alive Band Concert in Milan, MI. It was a good experience. I'll have to post some more about it when im actually awake :)

now its time to wind down some, prepare my heart for worship tomorrow at River Tree Community Church. I've got to re-evaluate some things, give everything up to the Lord, and begin thinking about what it truly means to love someone else...

The Adventure Called Life Day 132...i've got rhythm...

i've got rhythm
i've got sunshine
i've got rhythm
who could ask for anything more?

i was up early this morning for some practice with the Drumline. Then we went to lunch together, which was a riot! Daniel is sooo funny, and Shannon is great to laugh with! Our whole "team" is pretty much amazing!
well, I'm going to miss them this next Saturday :( I'm going home to attend Gordon's older brother's wedding. Doug and Kait are getting married next saturday!

Then we went over to the Women's game. They played IWU. and they WON! so awesome! We didn't expect them to win, but they did very well against IWU shooters. IWU was shooting 3-pointers like they were lay-ups. It was amazing. But the Lady Cougars managed to pull ahead and stay there for the second half. I love playing on the drumline, its so much fun! My hands are usually sore afterwards, but that's just because we only play once a week :) but i wouldn't trade it for anything, its just too. much. fun.

well, now im exhausted, and I think a nap is a good way to remedy that. so, nap time it is :)

The Adventure Called Life Day 061

did anyone brave the crazy shoppers? I didn't :) I stayed home. ALL DAY. and it was glorious.

I think I know why some of my guy friends are a little aprehensive around me. I have been told that its weird that i like men. I like sports, I tolerate beer and belching, I would rather watch a game a football than a chick flick, and I love the racetrack. And I like the creatures that go with this atmosphere. I like men. Is that weird? Usually women dislike things about men, they dislike their sweaty, gritty habits and pastimes. I usually don't mind them. Women seem to "tolerate" the men in their lives. I would rather hang out with them, then a bunch of women anyday. sometimes I wonder about myself. I know others do to :) I admire their strength, their ability to lead, and their ablility to have fun. Women are catty, and have fun by doing make up and taking pictures. While I enjoy make up and taking pictures, I also enjoy hanging with the guys. Maybe that's why they don't see me as a dateable, I am one of them...
