The Adventure Called Life Day 331...TGIF plus pictures...

Thank Goodness It's Friday!

That means I only have one more FULL day left. until I PACK UP and MOVE OUT for The Arbor :) I am so excited to begin RA training this coming week. I have a lot of preparation in moving ahead of me. I am almost completely packed. I have been putting boxes together, most of them quite practical to where I just need to put them on a shelf somewhere. The only one I really am going to "unpack" is a big box of books and desk supplies. The others are mostly storage boxes for dishes, laundry stuff, tea and coffee supplies, a crate of DVD's, a crate of books and of course my knitting basket!

I am also trying to decide what to do with this idea floating around in my head. I want to take pictures of the roommates on move in day. Then I want to get them put up on their doors ASAP. I think that would be cool, then I want to take a floor picture at our first floor meeting. I want to begin creating memory momentos from the get go. I know that things get busy and people are not always together. It would be nice to get that started. I am also thinking of putting up a bulletin board and slowly filling it with pictures FROM the girls on the floor of things they have done together. I shall get back to you when I get a more concrete idea manifestation.

Today is also my father's 50th birthday! Happy Birthday Dad! I have baked a chocolate cake, which I will go frost in a hot second, and I have also purchased him a short sleeve button up shirt. I know what you're thinking, ONE SHIRT? My father only every buys WHAT HE NEEDS. NOT what he wants. So, I did only get one, but its something he actually WANTED. If I over do it, he won't wear them anyway!

The Adventure Called Life Day 266...

Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me!
Today is my 21st birthday. wow. I am old :) Not really, its just odd to be over 20 years old. Zachariah is only 18. What a cougar right? LOL
The camp sang Happy Birthday seven times to me today. SEVEN TIMES. I am just in awe of how much I am loved by the campers and the staff. I just can’t believe it. Autumn got me a really nice ornament and a bottle of sparkling apple cider. Autumn came out to the tree after we had cabin devotionals with a scarf wrapped around something. I was like, “what did you do?” then she took out the green glass bottle and I lost it. I laughed until tears squeezed out of my eyes. It was too funny.
Seth had told me earlier in the breakfast line that he would wait to day Happy Birthday to me, so wait he did. He said it when were standing in line for lunch. It was great. I appreciated that he waited until it was unexpected and it meant so much! Thanks Seth for making me feel special on my birthday. Its difficult being away from home on that day. I share it with my brother, we are three years apart (two years, 364 days and 20 some hours if you ask him:) but born on the same day. I enjoy it. Its all I’ve ever known.
Time to go sing for service, pray it goes well...

The Adventure Called Life Day 243...the family...

I am super blessed. I say it all the time, but I'm super thankful I don't have a huge family that I get lost in. There are always only eight of us at family events. That includes, my parents, my brother, my grandparents, my aunt and uncle and myself. Now I'm sure things would be different if my other grandparents were alive, we would probably have two events that were similar in size and occasionally come together for things...

anyway, they came over today to celebrate my brother's and my birthday. We share the date, three years apart :) super cool. wasn't so much when we were in grade school, but I wouldn't have it any other way. So, they arrived after we got back from church. Cooking lunch/dinner ensued. Then we ate, and went outside. My father has requested the wood chips get used...so off we went, pulling weeds and spreading chips. My aunt and uncle were cracking jokes like, "where's the salsa to go with these chips?" in their funny fake mexican accents...I played along, somehow we got on the topic of Blue Hawaiians, and how they are alcoholic (don't ask, I don't remember how we got on this subject!) then I said, "So, I'll know who's an alcoholic," My uncle, asked, "what?" I shot back, "Well, they'll be blue..." and they laughed, my uncle said something to the effect of 'you've been hanging out with us too long,' and he smiled. Inside I'm sure he's back pedaling, trying to figure out when I became able to match wits with him! They used to make fun of me so bad, I'd cry, now not so much! take that Uncle Bryan! :)

well, now its time for the Coke 600. It still amazes me that the teams can build a machine that runs for 600 miles, BUILT BY HAND, and runs flat out, on the floor the entire 600 miles. WOW. that's really something. I'm off to enjoy the race...
