The Adventure Called Life Day 325...new independence...

Today we drove 165 miles to Lima, OH to drop my brother off at the University of Northwestern Ohio for school. He is going to school to become a High Performance auto mechanic. My dad thinks that Kevin getting to study racecars is just, "too cool" :) Well, Its the first time I've been to UNOH, and it looks really nice. I only met two of his three roommates and they seem nice. They only had bunk beds for furniture in their rooms, they have to bring everything else. I am surprised by this, but then again SAU is a privately funded Christian university. I guess that means we're spoiled :P

We returned home and watched the second half of the Bristol night race. Kyle Busch has done the hat trick! I really don't like his attitude, but I have to admit that he is a great driver. He won the truck race on thursday, the nationwide race on friday and now the cup race on saturday. Its never been done before, and now Kyle Busch has made history. Three wins in one weekend :)

tomorrow I get up early to go sing on the worship team for Brighton AG. I love to serve, and its so much fun to do at home!

The Adventure Called Life Day 243...the family...

I am super blessed. I say it all the time, but I'm super thankful I don't have a huge family that I get lost in. There are always only eight of us at family events. That includes, my parents, my brother, my grandparents, my aunt and uncle and myself. Now I'm sure things would be different if my other grandparents were alive, we would probably have two events that were similar in size and occasionally come together for things...

anyway, they came over today to celebrate my brother's and my birthday. We share the date, three years apart :) super cool. wasn't so much when we were in grade school, but I wouldn't have it any other way. So, they arrived after we got back from church. Cooking lunch/dinner ensued. Then we ate, and went outside. My father has requested the wood chips get used...so off we went, pulling weeds and spreading chips. My aunt and uncle were cracking jokes like, "where's the salsa to go with these chips?" in their funny fake mexican accents...I played along, somehow we got on the topic of Blue Hawaiians, and how they are alcoholic (don't ask, I don't remember how we got on this subject!) then I said, "So, I'll know who's an alcoholic," My uncle, asked, "what?" I shot back, "Well, they'll be blue..." and they laughed, my uncle said something to the effect of 'you've been hanging out with us too long,' and he smiled. Inside I'm sure he's back pedaling, trying to figure out when I became able to match wits with him! They used to make fun of me so bad, I'd cry, now not so much! take that Uncle Bryan! :)

well, now its time for the Coke 600. It still amazes me that the teams can build a machine that runs for 600 miles, BUILT BY HAND, and runs flat out, on the floor the entire 600 miles. WOW. that's really something. I'm off to enjoy the race...

The Adventure Called Life Day 208...'dega...

today's NASCAR race is at Talledega. or as we NASCAR nuts all affectionately call it, 'Dega.

I love this race. Its like a 200 mile 'n hour parking lot. Its fascinating to watch the cars sling shot past each other, its also nerve wrecking when they try to go four wide into turn four.

well I do need to do some homework. I'm supposed to go over to Zachariah's room tonight @8 to help him organize his room. I'll also take my computer and my lab book so I can do my lab write up. This afternoon I'm going to watch the race, play some guitar, email my ministry leadership paper person to interview and then make dinner :)

here's to cozying up on the couch, watching the race and enjoying the thunderstorms! i do wish my boo was here, but im sure he's either napping or doing homework like a good kid. lol...

The Adventure Called LIfe Day 129...gentlemen, start your engines...

the four most famous words in racing. that's right. it even includes "gentlemen" and im a girl, and im okay with that. imagine that! LOL...

anyway, NASCAR media day tomorrow morning officially kicks off the 2010 NASCAR season and speed weeks at Daytona International Speedway. oh how wonderful it is indeed!! I am so excited!!

this saturday night is the all-star shootout, formerly known as the Budweiser Shootout, its a race for all the drivers who earned a pole position, which means they qualified first by time for a race in the past season. They race for money, no points, just glory. its pure awesomeness...

anyway, I just wanted to get a quick blog up before my contemporary worship ensemble class, then I have dinner with Paul Reif, and then nothing (oh how good it is to write that) maybe a little homework, then off to DEEPER tonight with my roomies. its a great day.

The Adventure Called Life Day 120...second semester prep...

J-term 2010 is almost done. I'm sitting in CPS 150, listening to the LAST lecture, I hope, of the term. We are reviewing software. *sigh*

NASCAR starts next weekend!!! AH! the Budweiser shootout is next saturday (feb 6) super super super stoked for that!!! then the 500 is on Valentine's Day. Such an awesome way to spend "singles awareness" day :)

anyway, I'm headed to the library later after some winding down and dinner. I can't wait to be done with this class. I'm just not that into technology and programs like this is all...i am excited for my movie :) it will be super fun to present. I'll tell you about it tomorrow. till then

NASCAR...chase for the cup...

so...i've been thinking, yes that can be a very dangerous thing for me to do, but i've been doing it anyway :)

Jimmie Johnson is literally unstoppable in the chase. maybe its the tracks that are in the chase?

Well this week Denny Hamlin managed to win, but JJ came home with a top five. What do we do? How do we stop Knaus and Johnson from sweeping FOUR CHAMPIONSHIPS in a row??

i don't know.

all I know is that JJ and Knaus are literally the dream team. Chad Knaus is probably the smartest, savviest crew chief on the circuit.
